Carew Castle & Tidal Mill

Journey Through Time: The Rich History of Carew Castle and Tidal Mill

Carew Castle and Tidal Mill boast a history that spans over 2,000 years, weaving tales of knights, kingmakers, Elizabethan intrigue, and the devastation of the Civil War. Situated in a breathtaking location overlooking a 23-acre Millpond, the Castle stands out as one of Wales’ most architecturally diverse structures. Viewed from the west, it resembles a Norman fortress, while from the north, it presents itself as a splendid Elizabethan mansion. The site encompasses not only the castle but also the only restored Tidal Mill in Wales, an 11th-century Celtic cross, a medieval bridge, and a picnic area. These features are all interconnected by a mile-long circular walk, designed to accommodate buggies and wheelchairs, offering magnificent views over the Millpond.
